On the 14th of June the media tour was organized by David Paitchadze, one of the mentors of the project who hosted the contestants at Georgian Public Broadcaster.

Masterclasses for the contestants (12 students) were held by Giorgi Putkaradze, the head of news department of Georgian Public Broadcaster who talked about producing the information program “Moambe” and supporting technical maintenance. Also, he talked about the working mode of newsroom, answered students’ questions: how to communicate with sources and verify information.SHL7219

Students were introduced to the specifics of Public Radio, the patterns of prime time filling and programming. They met with Rati Loladze, the head of breaking news section of Public Radio; David Paitchadze, the anchor of information-analytical program “Pikis saati” (“Rush Hour” and  Nino Ramishvili,  the producer in chief  of the radio program.

Nino Jhghenti, the head of Georgian Public Broadcaster’s archive spoke with the contestants about the history of “Golden Fund”. ‘Approximately 3 million voice records are kept in the archive, which belong to the Georgian public figures and celebrities” – she said. Students visited the digitalized  archive, they listened to the recorded materials read by Akaki Tsereteli, Galaktion Tabidze and Paolo Iashvili.

The goal of the project “Media criticism: young journalists for media empowering” is promoting the development of media critics. Project is implemented by Media and Communication Educational and Research Center by supporting Deutsche Welle Akademie.
